OXEN SPORTS GIVE THEIR SUPPORT TO MND COMMUNITY

OXEN Sports, official technical partner of Leeds Rhinos, are delighted to announce another significant donation to the MND Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity.

Following on from the donation of over £50,000 in 2021 through a variety of fundraising projects, 2022 will see a donation of £50,180 through sales of the Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers Magic Weekend shirts.

The Rhinos shirt, which was worn at the Magic Weekend, was designed by the children of former Leeds Rhinos player Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with MND in December 2019. His young children Macy, Maya and Jackson each had an input on the design of the distinctive shirt which the Rhinos wore for their win over Castleford Tigers at St James’ Park in Newcastle

The Tigers shirt saw all sponsors adopt the orange colour of the MND association to help raise awareness and support for both charities.

The MND Association is dedicated to improving the care and support for people affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. They fund and promote research, as well as campaigning to raise awareness so the needs of people with MND are addressed by society. Visit www.mndassociation.org for more information.

The Leeds Hospitals Charity appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND will also benefit from the donation from OXEN Sports. The centre will be a space focused on those with MND and their families and carers, bringing together treatment, holistic support and education into one bespoke environment.

Jenn Scribbins, Regional Fundraiser for MND Association in Yorkshire, Humberside and the North East said: “OXEN have once again helped raise an amazing amount with these Magic Weekend shirts which were so specially designed by the Burrow children. Thank you so much to Lee and the OXEN team for their incredible continued support. It is great to have their support with Kev’s Ultra 7 in 7 challenge and I am sure that their shirts will continue to raise vital funds and awareness in the fight against MND

Lee Jenkinson CEO, OXEN Sports added “We are delighted to once again make a significant donation to the MND Association and Leeds Hospital Charities. We’d like to thank the fans of both Leeds Rhinos and Castleford Tigers for helping us reach this magnificent figure. Having worked closely with the MND Association for the past 3 years, we’ve seen the fantastic work that they do and we are delighted to be able to continue to support them in their fundraising efforts. We are working closely with the foundation on a variety of other projects and we are looking forward to supporting Kevin Sinfield OBE and his team on the upcoming challenge.”

Rugby League legend Kevin Sinfield OBE will lead a team on his toughest challenge yet this November in the third and final leg of his epic challenges to raise awareness and funds for those impacted by Motor Neurone Disease.

Starting on Sunday 13th November, Sinfield will run over 60km per day for seven days from Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh to Old Trafford in Manchester in his Ultra 7 in 7 Challenge.  Inspired by Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir, Stephen Darby and other people living with MND, Kevin Sinfield will have an initial aim is to raise £777,777 from the challenge.
